Home and Away Spoilers – Kahu does a runner with Tane’s money

When Tane learns the truth about what Kahu has done with his money on Home and Away in the UK the following week, Kahu runs away!

Next week, when Tane (Ethan Browne) exposes Kahu (Jordi Webber) for yet another deception and forces his cunning cousin into a tight spot, the game is finally over for Kahu.

Since moving to Summer Bay a month ago, Kahu has been looking for work. Tane gave Kahu an honest position at the gym, but it wasn’t enough for Kahu, who decided to further exploit his cousin’s generosity.

Kahu, who appeared anxious to advance in his new profession, requested Tane if he could pay the tuition costs to enrol him in a Personal Trainer course at TAFE.

Kahu continued to maintain the pretence that he was attending TAFE until Tane called to inquire about his schedule before sending the $1500 to his mother in New Zealand.

When confronted about the lying, Kahu changed his story and said that he wanted to own his own trawler, touching Tane’s heart by making him think of their childhood fishing expeditions. He would be able to register the company, submit permit applications, and research accreditation if Tane decided to allow him to keep the money as an investment.

Tane caved, much to the chagrin of his wife Felicity (Jacqui Purvis), who informed Tane that he had rewarded Kahu for lying.

After failing to get Flick to make an investment as well, Kahu connected with co-owner of Salt Mackenzie (Emily Weir)… but soon lost interest when he realised she wasn’t as rich as he’d assumed.

When Kahu learned that Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) was the beneficiary of an inheritance, he pounced on the chance and humiliated Tane by hosting a barbecue in an effort to convince Cash to invest.

After witnessing the depths to which his cousin will sink, Tane discloses to Flick that he has doubts about Kahu’s loyalty next week.

Flick notes that he has been the ideal houseguest lately, but Tane believes that is simply because he served him at the BBQ.

Despite the fact that it is his day off, Cash decides to accompany Flick to work so he can observe Kahu in the gym.

Tane notices Kahu talking to John (Shane Withington) as soon as they enter the surf club, and his heart falls as he worries that Kahu has chosen John as his next victim.

Tane pretended to be there to check the rosters for Kahu before collaring John and asking him what they were discussing.

Kahu leaves the gym knowing full well Tane would be verifying his statements as John verifies that they were speaking about New Zealand (John made multiple trips over the ditch during his time in the navy).

Kahu reminds Tane that whanau should have faith in one another, but Tane’s tact instantly evaporates as he adds that his past performance has been far from stellar.

His frustration increases when he learns from Flick that Kahu was rummaging through Mac’s wallet in quest of cash. Knowing this to be the case, he proceeds to look up Kahu’s name in the business registration.

Of fact, it is a blank because Kahu has played him once again.

Tane requests a business update from Kahu the following morning; after all, he is an investor. Tane fumes as Kahu tells him the company has been registered and everything are going well so far while lying through his teeth.

Kahu protests that he has no idea what he is talking about, but Tane snaps and demands the truth from him.

Tane requests to see the business registration paperwork, and Kahu promises to fetch it for him. and quickly departs for the surf club in order to buy himself some time.

Kahu claims that he must have erased the email by accident when Tane eventually catches up with him, but Tane doesn’t buy it. He recently ended a phone call with Kahu’s mother, who appears to believe that he is working on a fishing trawler.

Kahu can no longer hide and tells Tane the whole sad story.

His mother had given him a $50,000 loan to purchase his own used trawler, but things went horribly wrong very quickly. Kahu asserts that the boat is currently in the bottom of the harbour because there is no money to pay for necessary repairs.

Since then, Kahu has fallen into a cycle of borrowing money from others and admits to sending Tane’s money to his mother back home. He doesn’t want to break her heart by informing her he has lost everything because she is so proud of him.

Tane advises Kahu to be truthful with his mother and provides him some time so that he can call her and break the bad news.

However, it seems that Kahu has changed his mind once Tane has departed. as he gathers his belongings and leaves the Parata residence!
