After the grief of their second miscarriage together, Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams) and Mia (Anna Samson) are determined to move ahead, and they have chosen to strengthen their adoption application by acquiring the gym from Jasmine (Sam Frost).
When Tane (Ethan Browne) learns of their plans, he questions Ari about how they plan to pay for it.
Tane feels apprehensive when Ari discloses that Mia kept the money from the armed robbery that placed him in prison for eight years — using filthy money to establish a new beginning isn’t a smart idea. Ari also seeks Tane’s assistance in making the money appear real.
When Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) arrives and asks to meet with Tane, the brothers are conversing with the bag of stolen cash on the table. Ari is unaware of Tane’s problems with Felicity (Jacqui Purvis) and grows concerned that the copper is aware of the money.
Despite Tane subsequently giving him the go light, Ari has been reminded that they’re playing with fire by spending money from his history. Mia brings the gym contract home with her, anxious to sign it, but Ari isn’t quite ready yet.
When Mia begs for further information, he contacts someone who can assist with the money cleaning, but he refuses to provide it.
Ari is faced with a difficult decision: will he jeopardise his financial future with his partner by socialising with the sort of people he had in his life before being sent down, or will he accept the chance to ensure his financial future with his partner?
